Here we talk about cricketers who were part of BPL 2019-20 season and are in the squads for Indian Premier League 2021 as well.
BPL Players in IPL 2021
Chris Gayle
The Universe Boss was playing for Mahmudullah led Chattogram Challengers in Bangladesh Premier league 2019-20. Chris Henry Gayle would play four matches in the tournament edition scoring 144 runs with a fifty plus score. His 60 would come in the qualifier 2, but wouldn’t help the team get though to the title clash as the team would finish third in the tournament edition. Gayle is among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021 as he would be one of the key players for the Punjab Kings in the Indian tournament.
Dawid Malan
The England Cricketer Dawid Johannes Malan not only have been a World number 1 in T20 Internationals, but has recorded the best ever ratings in T20I cricket so far. Malan was playing for Cumilla Warriors in BPL 2019-20 and scored 444 runs at an average of little less than 50, strike rate close to 145. The Left handed cricketer would score a hundred and 3 fifties in the tournament edition with 100 not out as his highest score. Malan will be looking to replicate similar performance for the Punjab Kings as he is among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021.
Dawid would, however, withdraw from the rescheduled part of the IPL 2021, the phase 2, to be available for his national team duties.
Mustafizur Rahman
The Bangladesh national team cricketer has already been among the good left arm seamers of current generation. Mustafizur Rahman was playing for Rangpur Rangers and would be the joint highest wicket-taker in the Bangladesh Premier League‘s last edition as he would pick 20 wickets from 12 matches at an average of 15.60 and strike rate of 13.3. His economy rate during the season was as low as close to 7. Rahman is among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021 as he would be one of the key players for the Rajasthan Royals in the season.
Andre Russell
The Caribbean All-rounder is another giant name in T20 leagues. Andre Dwayne Russell was the captain of Owais Shah coached Rajshahi Royals franchise in BPL 2019-20. Russell, in addition to his captaincy duties, would score 225 runs at an average little over 56 and strike rate of 180 as well as pick 14 wickets at an average of 25.64 & strike rate of 17.5. With 4 overseas cricketers limit in playing XI and David Warner, Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow & Kane Williamson among the top favorites, it is still to be seen as to how many matches he’s get in the tournament edition.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
The Afghan Off-break bowler Mujeeb Ur Rahman Zadran was part of the Soumya Sarkar led and Ottis Gibson coached Cumilla Warriors franchise during BPL 2019-20. Zadran would go on to pick 15 wickets for his team at an average of 15.86, economy rate of 5.06 and strike rate of 18.8, his best being 4/12. His team, however, wouldn’t get much help from this performance as the team would finish fifth in the 7 team tournament. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, though, would feature among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021 as he could be part of the playing XI of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in some matches of the season.
Wanindu Hasaranga
The Sri Lanka All-rounder Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva was part of the Mushfiqur Rahim led & James Foster coached Khulna Tigers Franchise of BPL 2019-20. Hasaranga would thus be among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021 as he would be playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the phase 2 leg of IPL 2021 season.
Sherfane Rutherford
The Caribbean All-rounder was part of the Andre Fletcher led & Herschelle Gibbs coached Sylhet Thunder Franchise of BPL 2019-20. Rutherford would score 180 runs with a 60 and pick 6 wickets from 6 matches with his best being 3/19. His team would finish 7th in the 7 team tournament. Rutherford is among the cricketers who represent the BPL Players in IPL 2021, joining in phase 2 team of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
