Mumbai: Letters have been written to the associations of Saurashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu, by The BCCI cited as ”a precautionary measure”.
Information that the board’s letters directed towards the five associations who shall be hosting the test matches lined up ahead between England & India with questions relating to their capabilities on whether shall they be able to successfully balance the expenditure of hosting the matches, sources said on Thursday.
When asked about the legitimacy of the ongoing rumours and news reports, sources added. “We have written to the Test match staging associations as a precautionary measure asking them whether they can host the matches. We are functioning on a day to day basis now rather than on a 3-4 month basis.”
Raising doubts post the appointment of the Lodha Committee by The Supreme Court Of India, who as per its investigations has asked the affiliated units of the BCCI to refrain from utilizing funds transferred to them as their share of the revenue, till the verdict of the apex court is reached on reforms within the BCCI.
Adding that no MoU’s could be signed with the team boards of England and Wales till the BCCI was cleared by the Lodha Panel of appointing an auditor to oversee it’s affairs. “We cannot sign the contract” the sources said.
The India-England Test matches will be held at stadium grounds in Mumbai, Rajkot, Vizag, Mohali, and Chennai, which will begin on Wednesday, 9 November.
