Kolkata: The BCCI has organised a sub-committee meeting of the National Cricket Academy in Delhi on Friday without notifying Niranjan Shah, it’s chairman about the same.
Shah in turn, wrote a letter to BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary asking him to postpone the meeting as it had been scheduled without intimating him.
“I am surprised that a meeting of NCA has been called on September 15 and notice of the same has not been sent to me even though I am the chairman of NCA, officially constituted by the BCCI,” wrote Shah in the letter, reports PTI.
Although Shah was appointed as chairman of the NCA, it was done going against the recommendations of the Lodha Committee as he is above 70 years ado.
The BCCI too, in this case didn’t want to take any chance as doing so would bring in the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) in the scene.
A BCCI official, in an interaction with the PTI said on Thursday, “Niranjan Shah’s attendance would mean BCCI again violating Lodha Committee diktat. The secretary didn’t want to take a chance.”
When Shah was asked as about him being ignored, he said, “What can I do if they do something like this. Amitabh (Chaudhary) is yet to reply to my letter. I will certainly speak to my lawyers and see what can be done if they go ahead with the meeting.”
