Being the best club in Germany for generations comes with its own repercussions. FC Bayern has as many haters as it has supporters. Here are a list of 10 matches when the Bavarians didn’t quite represent themselves as elegantly as they have done over the years.
10. Borussia Dortmund 1 – 0 Bayern Munich, 2011-12 Bundesliga
This was the season of the Dortmund Double. The arch rivals of Bayern were leading the table by 4 points when the Der Klassiker came along.
A dry game with hardly any incision saw Lewandowski score in the dying minutes before Arjen Robben missed a penalty (and maybe the Bundesliga) to hand a decisive 7 point advantage.
9. Real Madrid 4 – 0 Bayern Munich, 2013-14 UEFA Champions League SF 1st Leg
On their way to the La Decima, Real whisked aside Bayern in the semifinals. Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace each as Carlo Ancelloti’s side triumphed over Pep Guardiola’ s Bayern.
Holders Bayern were expected to put up a fight against Real but nothing of that sort conspired on the night.

8. Borussia Dortmund 3 -2 Bayern Munich, 2018-19 Bundesliga
Matchday 11 brought arch rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund face to face in the Der Klassiker.
Lewandowski scored twice against his former club, matched by Marco Reus to keep scored tied at 2-2. It was ultimately Paco Alcacer’s stunning chip goal that settled the game in Lucian Favre’s side.
7. Inter Milan 2 – 0 Bayern Munich, 2010 UEFA Champions League Final
Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan outplayed Louis van Gaal’s Bayern Munich in the final of the 2010 Champions League 2-0.
Both teams were vying for the treble, having won their respective leagues and cups in Italy and Germany respectively. A brace from Diego Milito decided the title in favor of the Italians.
6. Manchester United 2 – 1 Bayern Munich, 1999 Champions League Final
One of the best Champions League Finals ever, Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United faced Bayern Munich at Camp Nou.
Having fallen behind to an early Bassler goal, United staged an impossible comeback in injury time with goals from Ole Gunner Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham.
5. Bayern Munich 1 – 3 Liverpool, 2018-19 UEFA Champions League Round of 16
Bayern Munich were taken out by Liverpool star man Sadio Mane as Jurgen Klopp won 3-1 on his return to the Allianz Arena against Bayern.
Nico Kovac’s Bayern lacked the guile, mentality and the ability to match up to the eventual Champions League winners.

4. Bayern Munich 1 – 1 (5 – 4) Chelsea, 2012 UEFA Champions League Final
Bayern Munich were poised to win the Champions League at home against Chelsea before Didier Drogba equalized in injury time.
Cech saved a penalty and Chelsea prevailed on penalties to give the Blues their Champions League title and Bayern the blues.

3. Bayern Munich 5 -2 Borussia Dortmund, 2012 DFB Pokal Final
The year of the Dortmund double saw Bayern lose out on the Bundesliga at the Signal Iduna Park, before the Yellow Brigade steamrolled them 5-2 in the Final of the DFB Pokal to win their first double of the century.
2. Bayern Munich 1 – 1 (4 – 3) FC Magdeburg, 2000-01 DFB Pokal
Defending champions Bayern Munich were handed a shock defeat in Round 2 of the DFB Pokal by tier two club FC Magdeburg.
The game ended level 1-1 with a Ofodile goal balanced by Salihamidzic before Bayern lost out on penalties to the minnows.

One of the most embarrassing defeats for the Bavarians in recent times came at the hands of the Catalans as they thrashed Bayern 3-0 at Camp Nou.
The game contained two wonderful strikes from Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi on Pep Guardiola’s return to Camp Nou as a manager.
