Kolkata: Legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun has made it into the Mumbai U-19 team for the Late Shri JY Lele All India Invitational One-Day Tournament to be played in Baroda from September 16-23.
The 17-year-old Arjun, who is a left-arm pace bowler and also has a good hand with the bat has earlier represented Mumbai at the U-14 and U-16 levels. Although he was selected in Mumbai’s U-14 team four years ago, he didn’t get to play after a controversy broke out on his selection. He then went on to play for Mumbai at the U-16 level as an all-rounder, opening both the batting and the bowling.
Having played a lot of cricket in London, especially bowling during England’s net sessions, Arjun came to the fore for his toe-crusher to England’s wicketkeeper batsman Johnny Bairstow which left the latter hobbling in pain ahead of the Test series against South Africa.
He was also seen during the training session of the Indian women’s team in London, before their World Cup final against hosts England.
