Moscow: A day which was not that good for the Indian Iconic Chess Player Viswanathan Anand, saw Anand losing to Russian Vladimir Kramnik in the fourth round of 10th Tal Memorial International chess tournament.
The match where 46 year old Anand was up against the fashionable Italian opening against Kramnik and it was the main line on board after some deviations early on in the game; Anand looked like an off-form player and Kramnik was a rejuvenated soul after suffering a painful defeat in the previous round.
The Russian Kramnik got a small advantage in the middle game and nurtured it well whereas Anand did not find the best response. In the end it was a tactical stroke from Kramnik which left Anand defenseless.
In other matches of the round 4 of the Tal memorial International, Evgeny Tomashevsky of Russia (RUS, 1) drew with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov Azerbaijan (AZE, 2); Boris Gelfand of Israel (ISR, 0.5) lost to Li Chao of China (CHN, 2.5); Peter Svidler of Russia (RUS, 1.5) lost to Anish Giri of Netherlands (NED, 3.5); Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia (RUS, 3) drew with Levon Aronian of Armenia (ARM, 2).
