On the final day of the Vivo IPL 2016, the League’s Official Digital Streaming partner, Hotstar and Star Sports hosted an event together to celebrate the season’s climax and its ‘100 million viewers’ landmark with a unique match-up at its Mumbai headquarters.
In the jubilation mode, the Hotstar Spokesperson said, ‘‘Hotstar has become the primary screen for IPL for young cricket fans. This is an example of how the network is working to create unique and compelling cricket content for our viewers and bring in an entirely new set of young viewers to the league.”
Creating a new precedence, former pace spearheads Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee took on each other in a six-a-side game along with children between 8 to 12 years. The event was telecast live on Hotstar’s website and the Facebook page of Star Sports India.
Reminding the viewers of their best days with their performances, with rolled up sleeves, the pace sensations Akhtar and Lee wrestled their bravado in front of a Harsha Bhogle as an Umpire- result was a swashbuckling display of cricket.
And to add more flavors to the feature, was comedian Suresh Menon, who had the laughter coming out loud for whosoever was witnessing the event aptly supported by music of Naezy.
The children who got a chance to play in leadership of their heroes, were the real winner of the match event, though the result could only feature Shebby ke Sher as the winner against Binga Boys by 12 runs.
