The two times Wimbledon Champion came so close to winning her 1st Hard Court Major this year in Australian only to be denied by an in form Naomi Osaka. At Roland Garros, she managed to reach the semifinals in 2012 but has never gone beyond 4th round since then.
With form and fitness in her favor the World Number 5 is expected to put a much better show this year. She would be hungry to put a 3rd Slam in her tally.

Clay however is not Osaka’s strong surface. She did manage to reach the Quarter finals at Madrid and Rome this year. In Rome she had to retire even before the start of the match due to injury.

The Romanian may have lost her World Number 1 ranking but she certainly has not lost her flair to play on clay. Halep is still the best female player on clay currently and deserves to be the number 1 favorite to defend her title this year at Roland Garros.
Halep’s main strength on clay is her movement and her mastery in the baseline game. The World Number 3 has had a little disappointing clay season so far.

She managed to reach the final in Madrid, where she ran into an in form Kiki Bertens but lost in the 1st round in Rome.
Halep however can take confidence in her history at Roland Garros. She is a 2 time finalist here and also was able to lift the trophy in 2018. We expect her to repeat her last year’s showing in 2019.
