USA retain top position in World Ranking for Women’s Beach Volleyball

Lausanne: The United States Women’s Beach Volleyball team retained its stronghold in the top spot in the latest FIVB World Ranking for Women’s Beach Volleyball teams. The rankings have been updated after the conclusion of the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, in the wake of a successful tournament.
The Thailand chapter or the 2016 chapter of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix went along the line of one of the FIVB’s key ambitions, i.e. to make volleyball the number one family sport entertainment in the world and events like the World Grand Prix Finals in Bangkok which will help FIVB to achieve their goals, the FIVB President was heard quoting.
In 2013 version of the World Grand Prix, US Women’s were sixth but were able to take the silver medal at the World Grand Champions Cup. Ever since finishing at runners-up podium at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, eight years now, they have never been out of the top two places in the FIVB world rankings.
If we talk in details about the points, the USA Women’s team, which finished second in the World Grand Prix earned 45 points to keep their reign as the No.1 ranked team in the world, while World Grand Prix winners Brazil moved up to the second spot, pipping China of number 2. With this China goes to number 3.
Fourth placed on the rankings is the Russian team also placed fourth in the World Grand Prix. Other teams to feature in the Top 10 of the World rankings are Japan, Serbia, Dominican Republic, Italy, Korea and Turkey.
