Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. and Real Madrid Christiano Ronaldo are lead attack in the UEFA Team of The Year. The above mentioned are also the final three nominee for the FIFA Ballon D’or highest individual award given to the best player of the year.
More than 72 million votes were cast to decide the team. Users selected the players according to their preferred formation and from that poll 40 players were shortlisted by the UEFA.com staff.
More than half of the team was represented by the Spanish league players which included five players from European Champions Barcelona and three from Real Madrid.
Lionel Messi received most no. of votes (448,445) along side with his team mates Andres Iniesta, Dani Alves, Neymar Jr., Pique have also been selected in the UEFA Team of The Year.
Christiano Ronaldo has been selected for the 9th in arrow and 10th time alongside his team mates James Rodriguez making his debut in the team and defender Sergio Ramos is another representative for real Madrid.
Paul Pogba of Juventus also made his debut representing Juventus after they played the final in UCL last year.
David Alaba of Bayern Munich was also chosen in the team of the year along with his team mate Manuel Neuer who was also selected as the best goalkeeper of the year.
The final formation of the team formed was 4-3-3.
