Roger Federer to face Milos Raonic in Brisbane final

The defending champion Roger Federer is one step away for winning his 89th ATP title in Brisbane. He entered for third consecutive time in the Brisbane final.

He will be meeting Canadian Milos Raonic in the final of the Brisbane International Final. He defeated Dominic Thiem of Austria in straight se 6-1, 6-4.

Federer with his bullet speed serve stunned the centre crowd as well his 22-year old yong opponent when he charged the 5-0 lead at the Pat Rafter Arena.

The youngster Theim struggled against the mighty Federer, he met his first horror match in the world of international tennis.

Federer addressed this victory as his “best match” of the tournament.

“I really thought I hit the ball very well,” the evergreen 34-year-old, lathered in sweat from the muggy Brisbane heat, said in a courtside interview. “I’m very excited to be back in the final again… It’s a great start to the season and I’m very happy.”

Earlier in the first semi-final Raonic won the battle of big servers against the local rival Tomic 7-6(5) 7-6(5)

In the end it was Raonic who came out at the top. After winning four straight points against Tomic he smashed a forehand shot down the line to bring the match point.

He finished the match in style by whipping a backhand volley across the court to end the run of Tomic in the tournament.
