Klimov takes Russia atop the medal table, Jiewchaloemmit wins gold in Women Skeet

In the 25M Men Rapid Fire Pistol event of the World Cup stage in Rio Alexei Klimov rocketed Russia to the top of medal standings. While in the Women Skeet event Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand won Gold.

The Russian shooter Klimov prevailed over Keith Sanderson of  USA and Jean Quiquampoix of France who won silver and bronze respectively.

In the second final of the day at the ISSF World Cup stage in Rio de Janeiro, Alexei Klimov showed exceptional shooting skills in the 25 M Men’s Rapid Fire event to be crowned as the undisputed Gold medalist of the event.

The Russian shooter started with two perfect series of 5 hits, distancing himself form all other competitors since the very beginning. Further, he led the pack all along the match, scoring a perfect 5 in three more series, securing the Gold medal. In this event he not only topped the medal table, but also did equal Final World Record of the event with 35 points.

In the Women Skeet event, Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand won a Gold medal, participating in a Skeet Women semifinal for the fifteenth time, pocketed the first World Cup Gold medal of her career.
The Thai Skeet Shooter, who has appeared in many World Cup Semifinals and medal matches, finally did justice to her experiences by claiming the highest step of the podium. In a thrilling Gold medal match where it required a tie-breaking shoot off for her to supersede Kimberly Rhode of USA- after the two shooters scored 15 targets each. At the fourth additional double, Rhode missed, giving Jiewchaloemmit the chance to hit the Gold medal targets. Rhodes was followed by Lu Min of China as the bronze medalist.
