The Indian men’s compound team qualified for the third place play-off match after losing to the top seeded USA in the semi- finals of the Archery World Cup Stage 4.
The fifth seeded Indian trio of Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini and Amanjeet Singh lost to the USA compound team 228-233 to achieve a third place finish for the bronze medal.

Earlier the Indian team had started their World Cup campaign by defeating their Spanish counterparts 228-222 before going past 13th seeded Sweden 231-229 to enter the semi- finals.
The Indian team will take on Germany in the play-off match for a bronze medal.
The women’s compound team however could not live up to the expectations as the third seeded Indian team comprising of Jyothi Surely Vennam, Trisha Deb and Snehal Mandhare lost to the South African trio 28-29, in a close quarter-final match that went into the shoot-off. The women’s team had earlier received a ‘bye’ to enter the quarter-final.

The mixed compound team also crashed out of the World Cup in the quarter-final, losing to Mexico 149-156, to bow out of the tournament.
In the compounds’ singles section Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Vennam were the only archers to make it to the last eight also exited the tournament.

Sixth seeded Verma lost to third seeded Braden Gellenthien of the USA 146-148.
It was a shocking result for the third seeded Jyothi as she was defeated by the low ranked 13th seeded Sarah Sonnichsen of Denmark 145-147, to return home.

The compounds team have so far performed exceedingly well in the World Cup, fetching two medals for the country.One team gold (Shanghai Stage 1) and the other mixed team bronze medal (Antalya Stage 2).
Meanwhile, the Indian recurve archers continued their woeful performance in the Archery World Cup.
